Solar street lighting system

Solar street lighting system can be used during night for street lighting. It is an independent stand-alone lighting system and has automatic switch on and off during dusk to dawn operation. This arrangement can be made use of in the roads of town, villages, checkpost, vegetable market, regulating market, coffee estates, coffee drying yards, bus stops, forest timber yard and forest watch towers.

Solar cooker

Solar cooker can be used for baking, cooking by utilizing available solar power. There are two types of solar cookers viz. Parabolic and Box type.

1. There is no necessity of natural resources like wood, kerosene,     coal, gas, etc for cooking as in the case of other devices.

2. By using solar energy, food containing vitamin D protein can be     prepared.

3. There is no smoke, ash and sound.

4. Tasty food with protein can be prepared.

5. No loss of protein in the food.

6. Environment can be protected from pollution.

This type of cooker can be used in Boarding schools, Hostels, Hotels, Residential Schools, Orphanage, Army.

Solar water heater

It is a device for heating water using solar energy.

USES:

1. There is no necessity of any other natural source of energy     required for heating water as in the case of other water heaters,     water can be heated by the freely available solar energy.

2. As in the case of other electrical appliances (Geysers, Boiler etc)     there is no necessity to pay electricity bills every month.

3. A 100 litres per day capacity system save electricity to extent of     nearly 1000 units per year.

4. Easy installation and operation.

5. There is no fear of electrical shock as in the case of other electrical     appliances.

Solar water heater can be used in houses, orphanage, hostels, hospitals, industrial places and can be used wherever there is necessity of hot water.

KPTCL is giving a rebate of 25 ps per unit to max of Rs. 25/- to its customers who are using solar water heater.

Approximately Rs. 15,000/- to 17,000/- for 100 LPD capacity water heater.

Certain Nationalised banks (Canara Bank, Andhra Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Punjab and Sindh Bank) will pay a loan of 85% cost of the equipment at a simple interest of 5% and can make repayment in 5yrs time.

Solar Water Pump

Solar Photovoltaic water pumping system consists of a photovoltaic array mounted on a stand and one of the following Motor pump sets compatible with photovoltaic array

D.C Surface mounted centrifugal pumpset.
D.C submergible pumpset.
A.C submergible pumpset.

A SPV water pumping system is expected to deliver a minimum of 15000 LPD for a 200 watt panel and 1,50,000 LPD for a 2250 watt panel from a suction head of 7 meters and/or a total head of 10 meters on a clear sunny day.

Places where it is useful:

Solar photovoltaic water pump can be used for drinking water supply, Irrigation, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Poultry, Farming, Sericulture, Aquaculture, Salt farming etc.

Approximately cost will be Rs. 4.5 lakhs for 1800 watt solar water pump surface. 2.75 lakhs for 900 watt surface solar water pump.

Subsidy of Rs. 110 per peak watt of PV array subject to a max of Rs. 2,50,000/- per pump set is available for solar water pumping system and soft loan facility at the rate of 5% is also available up to 90% of the unsubsidised part of the SPV pump set by IREDA.
